Trying to find an aesthetics prescriber can often be quite difficult - but our prescribing service will definitely help to resolve that!
Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medication (POM) which means, it must be prescribed by a doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber or prescribing pharmacist who has completed training in administering botulinum toxin.
Dermal fillers on the other hand, are not classed as a POM in the UK. The MHRA classified fillers as “medical devices” in 2020.
Although you will be performing the actual treatment, obtaining a prescription for your client is the key. Getting prescriptions written for botulinum toxin involves a number of steps and this usually begins with initially having to show copies of your training certificates and indemnity insurance to the prescriber.
Prescribers must first carry out a face-to-face consultation with each client prior to writing their individual script for botulinum toxin. Virtual consultations, via online communication platforms such as Skype, Teams, Zoom etc, are not permitted because botulinum toxin is a POM.
The answer to that is simple.....YES!
